Seeking a Systems Engineer who will have ownership of the design and proper knowledge of and adherence to requirements and specifications. He/She will perform hands-on system design, development, and validation that will require an understanding of a broad range of disciplines. The successful candidate will have the creativity, passion, and drive to take concepts on paper and deliver unique, reliable, and quality products.
Responsibilities: Design of avionics electronics or firmware/software systems. Detailed system specifications from higher-level system specifications and user/customer requirements. End-to-end hardware/software development (planning, designing, implementation, prototyping, and testing/benchmarking) on on-going programs and projects. Optimization of system performance with respect to size, weight and power (SWAP). Serve as technical lead and coordinate activities with other team members. Adhere to fast-paced program schedules to ensure timely execution and delivery. Provide technical write-ups to support detailed documentations, bids, and proposals.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degree is preferred.
2+ years hands-on experience in development of electronic devices, subsystems, hardware/software, or system integrations for avionics, surveillance and/or sensor systems from prototypes to low-rate initial production (LRIP) ready systems.
Experience generating detailed system specifications and managing specification trade-offs for developmental programs, and seamlessly transitioning between multiple design and testing assignments occurring simultaneously to ensure timely execution and delivery. Lead, contribute to, and coordinate collaborative efforts with multi-disciplinary project team members.
Familiar with design, testing, evaluation, documentation, and certification for MIL-STD such as MIL-SPEC-704, MIL-STD-461, MIL-SPEC-810.
Use of electrical design tests.
Perform hands-on system architecture development, software development, hardware design, mechanical simulation and design, system integration, test and qualification, or trouble-shooting, as well as technical leadership within the organization in accordance with project team objectives, requirements, and schedules.
Hands-on hardware-software integration and packaging to meet performance, environmental and human factors requirements.
Hands-on experience in design of experiment (DOE), testing, evaluation, documentation, and certification for MIL-STDs.
Excellent communication skills – verbal and written – and experience in technical writing to produce documentation.
