Systems Engineer - Torrance, CA

Seeking a hands-on Systems Engineer with a background as an electrical or software engineer who will help architect a new system and needs to know reliability, D0-178 & DO-254 and will be responsible for design, requirements, development and test. This position will assist in the following areas: technical interface to the customer and customer engineering organization, be responsible for the technical elements of SOWs, proposals, and other deliverables, concept formulation, preliminary design, detailed design, system modification, hardware/software development, and system testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the full hardware/ software development life cycle: architecture, design, implementation, and test

  • Work closely with customers and cross-functional teams to derive/maintain requirements hardware/software systems using

  • Accountable for timely execution and successful delivery of new products, ensuring technical specifications meet customer needs/requirements.

  • Lead development and of all pertinent systems documentation, such as CIDS, SDD, SRD, VCRM, HW-SW-ICD, etc.

  • Hands-on involvement in hardware, software, and systems integration and test of avionics processor technology

  • Traceability and maintenance of systems documentation in DOORS

  • Lead/mentor systems team and coordinate assignments with other project team members

  • Compose technical proposals and write specifications.

  • Provide support as technical liaison between customers, engineering, and other non-engineering functional groups. Work with customers and direct team to solve field problems and participate in field testing.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s Degree in EE or equivalent preferred)

  • 3+ years of hardware, software, and mechanical experience

  • 2+ years of avionics development experience

  • Familiarity in designing system software for PPC, ARM and x86 based platforms desired. Familiarity with hardware design, block diagrams and schematics

  • Experience with DO-178 and DO-254 is a plus; successful program FAA certification or government certifiability is a plus

  • Familiarity with DOORS.

  • Candidate will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Possess an open, honest and collaborative style.

  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain security clearance.

  • Integrity, Linux, VxWorks, and other operating systems, including OS BSP/drivers and middleware a plus.
