Seeking a highly technical System Integration Engineer who will oversee the integration of electro-mechanical and optical systems. The individual will provide systems engineering support to program teams and facilitate compliance of design and manufacturing with capability requirements through all phases of the project, from initial concept design through systems analysis/engineering, planning, execution and testing. The candidate will be responsible for interfacing between the design team and the production team and will ensure that the product meets or exceeds the user and quality requirements.
Perform mathematical analysis of optical tracking system performance.
Support new product development and ongoing programs.
Review customer requirement documents, interface with customers to validate understanding of requirements and support technical proposal activities.
Communicate design requirements to Engineering group.
Work closely with Chief Systems Architect and program team to define system concept, develop system performance models and flow down system requirements to sub-systems; manage and document system configurations.
Develop and complete system specifications, test procedures, technical reports and analysis and oversee all transitions into production.
Update proprietary Argus software.
Develop and execute system electrical and software test plans for product releases.
BS/MS in Engineering, Math, Computer Science or related field with 5 years related experience.
Experience in design optimization using matrices, coordinate transformations, algebra, and solid geometry modeling. Applied mathematical experience and technical skills are necessary for this position.
Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, or MATLAB.
Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Ability to handle priorities, write proposals, technical reports, define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and meet internal deliverables, schedules and deadlines.
Excellent reasoning, communication and interpersonal skills to interact with multiple departments and customers.
Experience in the application and adaptation of Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products to meet government system requirements.
U.S. Citizenship required. Candidate must be able to obtain security clearance.
Domestic and international travel (engineer will support periodic field-testing at customer sites).
Prior experience working on government military program contracts preferred.
Experience in servo control methods, electro optical system performance modeling, design and testing; as well as procuring, integrating and analyzing visible and infrared focal planes or detectors.
Strong skills in mathematical algorithm design with experience in the use of design tools such as MATLAB, Scilab or similar and able to perform complex mathematical and engineering calculation is desirable.
Knowledge of Image Systems’ TrackEye software; fiber optics; cameras and lenses; and designing and planning architecture for network communications systems, including familiarity with video interfacing systems, 4K video projector systems, TACLANE Encryptors, and other communication devices are ideal, but training is provided.
