Sr. Systems Engineer - Torrance, CA

Seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer who will be responsible for the development and integration of state-of-the-art new flight display systems. This is a “hands-on” technical position for our Automation, Robotics, and Sensor Systems Division.  The successful candidate will present a proven track record of successful contribution to designs, developments, prototyping, testing, and problem solving, and should be eager to work in a very dynamic, fast-paced R&D setting with other engineers and scientists.

Requirements:

  • BS with 12+ years industry experience; MS preferred in Electrical Engineering, Avionic Engineering, System Engineering, or a related field.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following descriptions:
  • Digital and analog high-speed electronics, hardware/firmware design, embedded systems, FPGA, video processing, video interfaces, prototyping, testing (e.g., environmental and EMI), compliance validation, and/or troubleshooting.
  • 12+ years hand-on experience in development, integration, prototyping, and test.
  •  Use of design CAD for schematics (e.g., Altium), embedded systems, microcontroller, and/or FPGAs (e.g., Xilinx), as well as mechanical components.
  • Use of benchtop and automated test equipment and control software such as LabView.
  • Use of simulation and analytical tools to ensure design compliance including thermal and power analysis.
  • Experience with multiple video standards such as ARINC-818, SDI, RS-170/343, DVI, DisplayPort, and LVDS.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written – and experience in technical writing to produce documentation.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required. Active Security Clearance or Ability to Obtain One Preferred.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with video processing including scaling or image enhancements a plus.
  • Understanding of high and low power LED driving techniques for display applications including NVIS a plus.
  • Knowledge of safety standards such as DO-254 or DO-178 a plus.
  • Understanding of MIL-STD such as MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461F, MIL-STD-810G will be a plus.
