Director of Finance - Torrance, CA

Seeking a Director of Finance who will report directly to the Corporate Controller and has primary accountability for DCAA and other government audits. The successful candidate will remain current on and anticipate changes in government defense contracting and accounting requirements. Other areas of responsibility will include developing, maintaining and educating management on Accounting Policies and Compliance. He/She should be eager to work in a very dynamic, fast-paced research and development setting with manufacturing operations. The company develops novel solutions for the DoD, DOE, NASA, and other federal agencies.

Responsibilities:

·         Maintain expertise in DCAA, DCMA, and other government defense accounting policies

·         Keep executive management current on pending changes in government defense contracting requirements as well as issues, status, and potential outcomes of audits in process

·         Prepare and present materials, information and data for government audits

·         Prepare for and conduct initial, interim, and close out meetings with government auditors

·         Maintain or develop Accounting Policies and ensure compliance to meet business needs

·         May supervise other areas of accounting, closely aligned with defense contracting compliance, e.g. cost and EVMS, inventory, billing and receivables

·         Interface with Contracts to assist with proposals and contract negotiations as requested

Requirements:

·         BS/BA degree in Finance or Accounting is required (MBA or MS Accounting is a plus)

·         Significant experience with defense government contracting and accounting

·         Experience implementing Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), best practices, etc…

·         4+ years of supervisory experience

·         12+ years in government accounting and financial reporting (prefer small to medium size companies)

·         Knowledge of DCAA, DCMA, and other agency regulations and reporting (you’ll be point person)

·         Excellent communication and negotiating skills
